my rowing world
My element, my passion, my boat and me - harmony meets power and elegance. That's rowing, and that's me. Three minutes of moving images that show the sport of rowing in all its facets: Power, precision, the beauty of movement and the interplay between body, soul and spirit - as well as nature and me. My invitation to you: dive in and enjoy.
2000 meters - supreme discipline and Olympic distance - 2000 meters of pure adrenaline - and that's what it feels like:
The start

2000 meters, almost seven and a half minutes of hard work. From the shore, you perceive it as elegantly gliding along in a single, nobody can see the agony. For me, it means 250 strokes full of concentration and power that push me to the limits of what I can bear. When the start light turns from red to green, it's just me and my boat. Let's go!
The first 1000 meters - halfway

My pulse rises to a maximum of 200 beats per minute - my lungs are burning. The first lactate pains set in. It feels like thousands of needles are stabbing into my muscles from the inside with every stroke. The voice trying to tempt me to give in to the pain gets louder and louder inside me. I have to block it out - drive the boat towards the finish line stroke by stroke - mercilessly and without thinking too much. Focus on the moment, on my breath. 70% leg work, 20% torso work, 10% left for the arms. The end is approaching and the stroke rate now increases from just over 30 to almost 40 strokes per minute. Then, suddenly . . .
2000 meters and at the finish

. . . the redemptive finish horn. Paralyzed with pain at first, I need a few minutes to regain my senses and be able to move at all. Rowing was once a hobby, then a passion, and now it's my job. Growing up with my three siblings in Uster, the town on the water in the Zurich Oberland, Lake Greifensee was my second home. Today, my home is wherever I can experience that indescribably light feeling of gliding across the water.
The search for the perfect stroke . ..

. . . it is endless. It drove me on. And today I can admit that I was almost obsessed with it. The interplay of endurance, strength, technique and mental skills is unique for me and is what fascinates me about this sport: Waiting in the starting blocks for the "attention - go", the tension that surrounded me, knowing all the pain I was about to put myself in. The curiosity about how well I would be able to execute my race plan from the first to the last stroke.

And then, just before the start, the great gratitude of being able to show what I had worked hard for every day, with a lot of passion and without compromise. The road to the top was challenging. It would not have been possible without courage, commitment and passion. Nor without trust in myself and the confidence that I could overcome all the ups and downs. As in sport, so now in my new job as Impact Leader.
successes
My active career from 2003 to 2024 was characterized by numerous special moments, successes and challenges. With over ten Swiss championship titles, numerous medals at European and world championships and unique experiences at top international level, I was able to push my limits time and again. I am particularly proud to have been consistently among the top 5 in the world for six years. Every success tells a story - of hard work, teamwork, setbacks and an unwavering belief in myself and my abilities.
